Week 48 – My second attempt to give this a go.

My goodness. Either I let life get in my way or more accurately, I let myself get in my way. I really enjoy the Sunday Sevens. Natalie at Threads and Bobbins has done a wonderful job of creating this. You should check it out.

I have been cooking a bit more. More peach ice cream and I made some fried plantains.

I also purchased this Spiralizer using a gift card I received for my birthday in June. It makes miles of zucchini pasta, super quick. I made this Spiralized Zucchini Pesto Pasta with Peas and Pancetta by Danielle Walker.

I walked around the University of Virginia campus with my daughter to locate her classes. It is a beautiful campus.

They have an exhibit of a section of the Berlin Wall on grounds.

Hubby and I went to New Jersey for my MIL 80th birthday celebration. On the way up we stopped for ice cream (for lunch–we’re so bad). We couldn’t resist. There was no line! But, it was grizzling and only 68 degrees outside. It is really, really excellent ice cream.

In NJ we had sushi for dinner. The restaurant carries gluten free soy sauce. I was so happy!!

We slipped away to Seaside Heights for a stroll along the boardwalk. It was very windy and they had red flags out and would not let people go in above their knees due to rip currents. So we didn’t pay the $6 per person to go onto the beach.

We enjoyed a wonderful seafood meal with the birthday gal at the marina in Point Pleasant.

I apologized for posting more than seven photos. But, I did miss a couple of weeks of posting. I promise to do better.

Have a great week everyone!😘

Wow! Just wow! Your post literally made my mouth water :-0 All of this food looks gorgeous, especially the sushi!

  2. Thank you! We have several sushi places near us but, I love Ikko in Brick, NJ. My husband is from NJ and we found this place a few years ago. Wish it were closer.

  3. My, that sushi looks delicious! I really like the photo of you on the boardwalk. Pretty background. (I have a similar, windy shot of myself. Might post it next Sevens, if I remember)

  4. Thank you. I love sushi. 5 years ago I was able to go to Okinawa and I ate it every chance I got. Now, very rarely. My husband and I love the beach. He grew up in NJ (near the shore) and I was born in FL. And again, we don’t get to enjoy it often enough now. Although, I have grown to love the Blue Ridge mountains.

Lovely pictures and lovely food! I hope you’re not stressing over doing Sunday Sevens “wrong” somehow; just have fun with it and do it however you want to, when you want to. We’re just happy to see what you’re up to and drool over your delicious food photos. πŸ˜‰

  6. Thank you for the encouraging words. I do tend to stress a little about it. Mostly because I forget to take a picture or get busy and can’t squeeze the time in to record them. But, it really is fun to follow along with everyone else. And I enjoy sharing my week with everyone. I will get the hang of it. Thanks again.

Glad I’ve just eaten my breakfast – your post is making my mouth water! I’ve never tried sushi – not really sure why as I’m usually quite adventurous with food. Your photo does make it look very appealing 🍴

    • Oh, try it. I didn’t used to like it. Especially the wasabi. Too strong for me. But, after we were first married, my husband reintroduced me to it. I still wasn’t impressed. Then, three days later I woke up in the middle of the night craving it! It was crazy. I have loved it ever since. In my area of the US, many of the grocery stores have a counter where they make sushi fresh daily and package it up for folks to grab-n-go. I prefer to have mine made up fresh in a restuarant. Go ahead, try it.
